Today when I was coming from Kundalahalli junction towards graphite, there was a huge traffic jam from the Junction till just before Cosmos, the mall. It was never so before, atleast not at 9 AM in the morning.

The first thought that ran across my mind was “God! Everyone has an early meeting today, may be. So huge traffic jam at 9 AM?” The very next instant, I decided to walk down till cosmos instead of getting tensed standing still. When I was about to reach Cosmos (distance 1.5 km nearly), I learned the reason for the “Traffic Jam”. It was the ‘Traffic Police‘ standing at the junction and controlling the ‘Traffic’ at the rush hour.

This is an important issue that Bangalore traffic police have to address. The signals are so badly designed – even at the smallest of the junctions you have to stand still in the traffic atleast for 2 mins. This is when you are lucky to drive away in the first signal itself. But it is never the case. One has to wait for at the least 3-4 signals to cross a junction. Calculate the time for yourself! This is the problem when you are driving according to the traffic signal rules.

What if there is no signal but ‘police personnel’ standing at the junction. This is much worser case. The police person will not allow any side of the road cleared unless the traffic is stand still for atleast 1km on your side of the road. The drivers know that he will not listen to their honks but even then they honk honk and honk in vain.

God! Bangalore traffic. Save me!!!!!!!!

To the parents who want to kill their female yet-to-be-born, I am with you. The main reason being the harassment that a female goes through right from her childhood till she dies. Isn’t it ironic? Being born in a place where it is believed – Respecting women is our culture – is only on paper but not in action.

Read the following document -
http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B230nvxP1TfpNzdhMzMyYjAtZjMwYy00MTI0LTg1ZDQtZTk0YjliZmY4NjE5&hl=en
Note : This is in Telugu. I do not know if there is a English Translation.

After reading this, parents having only male kids will thank god for not giving them a female child. And parents with daughters will spend sleepless nights. A simple solution that the latter kind may think of is – not to send the girl kids for higher studies.

Is this the developing nation and proud India we are born in?
Is this country safe at all for youth?
Is there any place in world where our voice can be heard without we undergoing lathi charge or physical torture?

Signing off with heavy heart and regret,
Citizen.

I am back again raising my voice even louder against consuming of non-veg food.

This article is dedicated to all those who love to have non-veg food and think they cannot exist on this planet without consuming the same. This can also be called as an extension to the previous article but focuses only on consuming of non-veg food.

Well, I mean the statement that I have made – “Please shut your senses before consuming non-veg food.”And you want to know why? It is just because you do not want to see, or held responsible for any cruelty that any animal has to go through before it reaches your plate and stomach ultimately. If few stupid, idiots, planet lovers like me ask you to stop consuming non-veg food, you counter-argue.

I do not want you to know the facts at all. Facts like -

An animal is tortured in every possible way to make it fat to gain weight so that more people like you can be fed.

It doesn’t see the sun / land in whole of its life, and is always put up in tight prisons.

When the animal is cut open, to take out the meat for making delicacies for your stomachs, the waste is dumped in soil (only few companies do so) or thrown into open lands spoiling the latter.

The blood of the animal is also a delicacy for people like you, but the blood on the floors and on the meat might not be useful. So, what they do is, they use fresh water to clean it and the dirtied water is sent back to the source hence polluting it.

Now, see, we all are living in the age of “science” and any kid if asked, what will happen to the organic waste, will reply saying that it will be decomposed and not at all harmful and threatening as plastic. But, you – the gift of science, know how much time will it take for the meat to get decomposed? for the bones to get decomposed?

Well, for people like you, this mother earth is just a place where you can throw the garbage. You just want to keep your homes clean. Please continue.

Get the dead bodies to home and prepare delicacies and do not forget to enjoy them.

For your entertainment, I will give you few links. Please go through when you have time (may be it is only when you are done with cooking / waiting for the server to serve you finger-licking non-veg food).

Let us first know how the delicacy , Foie Gras, is made. This is served at McDonald’s and KFC. Hover your mouse on the picture to read the description.

4Q : Why was Andhra in favour of the merging?
Ans : Before discussing this, let us see what SRC said about the benefits that Andhra would get, if the merge happens.

Case for Vishalandhra

369. The next question which we have to consider is the future of the Telugu speaking areas of the existing State of Hyderabad, with particular reference to the demand for creation of Vishalandhra.

370. It is unnecessary for us to trace the history of the Andhra agitation in any great detail, because the Andhra State is now in existence, having been established on 1st October, 1953. In point of fact, however the arrangements which were made in 1953 have not been regarded by the Andhras in the new State, especially in the Circars, as final and the case for the creation of Vishalandhra has remained substantially un-examined.

371. The advantages of a larger Andhra State including Telangana are that it will bring into existence a State of about 32 millions with a considerable hinterland, with large water and power resources, adequate mineral wealth and valuable raw materials. This will also solve the difficult and vexing problem of finding a permanent capital for Andhra, the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are very well suited to be the capital of Vishalandhra.

372 Another advantage of the formation of Vishalandhra will be that the development of the Krishna and Godavari rivers will thereby be brought under unified control. The Krishna and the Godavari projects rank amongst the most ambitious in India. They have been formulated after prolonged period of inactivity, during which, for various technical and administrative reasons, only anicuts in the delta area have been built. Complete unification of either the Krishna or the Godavari valley is not, of course, possible. But if one independent political jurisdiction, namely, that of Telangana, can be eliminated, the formulation and implementation of plans in the eastern areas in these two great river basins will be greatly expedited. Since Telangana, as part of Vishalandhra, will benefit both directly and indirectly from this development, there is a great deal to be said for its amalgamation with the Andhra State.
States Reorganisation Commission Para 369 to 374

373. The economic affiliation of Telangana with the existing Andhra State are also not unimportant. Telangana has in years of scarcity a sizable deficit in food supplies. The existing Andhra State, however, has normally a surplus which Telangana may be able to use. The existing State of Andhra has likewise no coal, but will be able to get its supplies from Singareni. Telangana will also be able to save a great deal of expenditure on general administration in case if it is not established as a separate unit.

374. The creation of Vishalandhra is an ideal to which numerous individuals and public bodies, both in Andhra and Telangana, have been passionately attached over a long period of times, and unless there are strong reasons to the contrary, this sentiment is entitled to consideration.

Source : Government of India’s “Report of the States Reorganisation Commission, 1955″.

——————————————————————————————————————————–
With all the above mentioned benefits that Andhra State was getting, will it ever think twice for not considering the merge? Andhra State saw the advantages of the merge. But what was the ‘kutila buddi’ (bad intentions) they used for the merge?

Coming from the rule of Britishers, the Andhra State Politicians learned the alphabets of politics from them, unfortunately. There is a saying in Telugu – ‘కీడెంచి మేలెంచు’ meaning ‘think of the adversities before thinking of the benefit’. The state politicians of Andhra might have foreseen their future if Telangana develops.

What is this future am I talking about? Telangana is land of promises for Andhra State. It is abundant in water, power and infrastructure resources, but what it is lacking was a correct leadership and the ignorance of the people about the importance of education. The reasons for the same are plenty (Read history of Telangana). If Andhra can cash on it, and mould the situations on their behalf, there was no stopping for them.

If the people of Telangana gets education, they will voice about the injustice. What is the way that their voices should be made unheard? Never let them get educated. And you know the rest of the history.

If the people of Telangana gets into the government jobs, they will understand that something fishy is going on against them (projects), so the only way is not allowing the major chunk to get into the jobs. This led to the ‘Jai Andhra’ movement in 1972. More details about the movement in later articles.

By keeping the people of Telagana in dark for more than 50 years, Andhra politicians let the entry of its people and made roots into Telangana region in every field.

I do not blame the citizens of Andhra at all. If any of the above statements sounds so, you need to re-read them. I am only against the filthy politic game that Andhra Politicians had played for looting (should I say raping?) the Telangana region in every possible way. Doesn’t this sound similar? ‘Ahaa.. Yes, the Britishers did the same with Indians’ is what you are thinking then I must agree you are intelligent enough to make the deduction

Regards,
Citizen.

3Q : What are the reasons stated by SRC (States Reorganization Committee) opposing the merger?
Ans : Before talking about this, I want one and all to go through what SRC has mentioned about the case of Telangana and state of Hyderabad. Here are the details:

The Case for Telangana

375. The case of Vishalandhra thus rests on arguments which are impressive. The considerations which have been argued in favour of a separate Telangana State are, however, not such as may be lightly brushed aside.

376. The existing Andhra State has faced a financial problem of some magnitude ever since it was crated and in comparison with Telangana the existing Andhra State has a low per capita revenue. Telangana, on ther other hand, is much less likely to be faced with financial embarrassment. The much higher incidence of land revenue in Telangana and an excise revenue of the order of Rs.5 crores per annum principally explain this difference. Whatever the explanation may be, some Telangana leaders seem to fear that the result of unification will be to exchange some settled sources of revenue, out of which development schemes may be financed, for financial uncertainty similar to that which Andhra is now faced. Telangana claims to be progressive and from an administrative point of view, unification, it is contended, is not likely to confer any benefits on this area.
States Reorganisation Commission Para 374 to 378

377. When plans for future development are taken into account, Telangana fears that the claims of this area may not receive adequate consideration in Vishalandhra. The Nandikonda and Kushtapuram (Godavari) projects are, for example among the most important which Telangana or the country as a whole has undertaken. Irrigation in the coastal as of these two great rivers is, however, also being planned. Telangana, therefore, does not wish to lose its present independent rights in relation to the utilization of the waters of Krishna and Godavari.

378. One of the principal causes of opposition of Vishalandhra also seems to be the apprehension felt by the educationally backward people of Telangana that they may be swamped and exploited by the more advanced people of the coastal areas. In the Telangana districts outside the city of Hyderabad, education is woefully backward. The result is that a lower qualification than in Andhra is accepted for public services. The real fear of the people of Telangana is that if they join Andhra they will be unequally placed in relation to the people of Andhra and in this partnership the major partner will derive all the advantages immediately, while Telangana itself may be converted into a colony by the enterprising coastal Andhra.

379. Telangana, it has further been urged, can be a stable and viable unit considered by itself. The revenue receipts of this area on current account have been estimated at about Rs. 17 crores, and although the financing of the Krishna and Godavari projects will impose a recurring burden on the new State by way of interest charges, the probable deficit, if any is unlikely to be large. In favorable conditions, the revenue budget may even be balanced or indicate a marginal surplus. This fairly optimistic forecast can be explained or justified by a variety of reasons.
States Reorganisation Commission Para 379 to 383

380. One important reason is, of course, that the existing Hyderabad State and Telangana as part of Hyderabad have benefited considerably from the implementation from April, 1952, of the Finance Commissions’ recommendations. The increase in central payments from out of the divisible pools of income-tax and Central excise which has been possible under the present arrangements and the reduction in police expenditure for which credit can be taken, as the situation in Telangana improves, more or less offset the loss on account of the abolition of internal customs duties; and if the scope which exists of raising the yield of certain State heads of revenue is fully explored, the financial position of Telangana need not cause anxiety.

The State of Hyderabad

381. The advantages of the formation of Vishalandhra are obvious. The desirability of bringing the Krishna and Godavari river basins under unified control, the trade affiliations between Telangana and Andhra and the suitability of Hyderabad as the capital for the entire region are in brief the arguments in favor of the bigger unit.

382. It seems to us, therefore, that there is much to be said for the formation of the larger State and that nothing should be done to impede the realisation of this goal. At the same time, we have to take note of the important fact that, while opinion in Andhra is overwhelmingly in favour of the larger unit, public opinion in Telangana has still to crystallize itself. Important leaders of public opinion in Andhra themselves seem to appreciate that the unification of Telangana with Andhra, though desirable, should be based on a voluntary and willing association of the people and that it is primarily for the people of Telangana to take a decision about their future.

383. We understand that the leaders of the existing Andhra State may be prepared to provide adequate safeguards to protect the interest of Telangana in the event of its integration in Vishalandhra. These safeguards may take the form of a guarantee (presumably on the lines of Sri Baug Pact between Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra) of opportunities for employment for Telangana in the public services of the new State at least to the extent of one-third, that is to say, roughly in the proportion, and an assurance that particular attention will be paid to the development plans of this area.

384. We have carefully gone into the details of the arrangements which may be made on these lines. It seems to us, however, that neither guarantees on the lines of the Sri Baug Pact nor constitutional devices, such as “Scottish devolution” in the United Kingdom, will provide workable or meet the requirements of Telangana during the period of transition. Anything short of supervision by the Central Government over the measures intended to meet the special needs of Telangana will be found ineffective, and we are not disposed to suggest any such arrangement in regard to Telangana.

385 A further point to be borne in mind is that the State of Andhra was brought into existence only recently and has still not got over the stress of transition. It has for example, still to formulate a policy on land reforms and the problems arising from the partition from the composite State of Madras have, by no means, been. Tackled fully yet. Integration of Telangana with Andhra at this stage is, therefore, likely to create administrative difficulties both for Andhra and Telangana.

386. After taking all these factors into consideration we have come to the conclusions that it will be in the interests of Andhra as well as Telangana, if for the present, the Telangana area is to constitute into a separate State, which may be known as the Hyderabad State with provision for its unification with Andhra after the general elections likely to be held in or about 1961 if by a two thirds majority the legislature of the residency Hyderabad State expresses itself in favor of such unification.

387. The advantage of this arrangement will be that while the objective of the unification of the Andhras will neither be blurred nor impeded during a period of five or six years, the two governments may have stabilized their administrative machinery and, if possible, also reviewed their land revenue systems etc., the object in view being the attainment of uniformity. The intervening period may incidentally provide an opportunity for allaying apprehensions and achieving the consensus of opinion necessary for a real union between the two States.

388. Andhra and Telangana have common interests and we hope these interests will tend to bring the people closer to each other. If, however, our hopes for the development of the environment and conditions congenial to the unification of the two areas do not materialise and if public sentiment in Telangana crystallises itself against the unification of the two states, Telangana will have to continue as a separate unit.

389. The State of Hyderabad (as we would prefer to all this unit), to be constituted for the time being, should consist of the following districts,’ namely, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal including Khammam, Karimhagar,Adilabad, Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Medak and Bidar and Munagaala enclave in Nalgonda district belonging to the.Krishna district of the existing Andhra State.

Source: Government of India’s “Report of the States Reorganisation Commission, 1955″.

SRC have explained the reasons very well in the report why they were against the merging of Telangana (State of Hyderabad) with Andhra. However, the more intelligent (cunning?) and educated (are they really educated?) politicians went against the recommendations of the Committee. Now that is called Democracy!!

2Q : Why Telangana was opposed to the merger?
Ans : Before answering this question, one needs to understand the then situations of Telangana, which are soon after Telangana got freedom from the clutches of Nizams.

After the Telangana Peasants and Labour Rebellion, the farmers under the leadership of CPI, formed communes and administered their regions as mir.*

These community governments were integrated regionally into a central organization.

The main advantage of having these communes was farmers could put forth their problems and a collective solution was derived. This was a form of unity where practical and collective decisions were taken for the upliftment of the peasants.

The communes were abolished once the region had their first elections in 1951-52.

* mir – In Russia, peasants formed a class apart, largely excepted from the incidence of the ordinary law, and governed in accordance with their local customs.

Now, let us understand the educational situation of the then Independent Telangana:

Telangana had their first university in Hyderabad – Osmania University.

Majority of the schools in Hyderabad were in Urdu Medium and few in Telugu Medium.

Nizams, after the inception of Telangana, tried to improve Mughal culture and encouraged conversions of Hindus to Muslims.

Infiltration of Urdu words into Telugu and its culture gave new dimensions to the culture of Telangana (or should I say Nizam’s Hyderabad state?). Pure Telugu was replaced by Urduish Telugu.

In one sentence, there were no major actions taken to preserve the telugu culture of the region.

Opposition to the merger:

Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema (Andhra State) was developed by British – both socially and education wise. Telangana was neither fluent with Telugu nor English (Forget about English during the Nizams rule. It was an elite subject which only few rich people could afford for).

Since Andhra Pradesh will be a state with Telugu as the Regional Language, which means the government jobs will be for people who are well versed with Telugu, Telangana people will hardly get a chance to get into government jobs.

Telangana had a developed Capital – Hyderabad. Since Andhra State didn’t had a developed capital, its eyes were already on Hyderabad. Telangana feared that it will become a colony for people of Andhra State just like India became one for British.

The region never had freedom. Once it has got freedom, the people dreamed of developing it in their own way – as the resources (Water , infrastructure and labour) were plenty. But their dream of living free didn’t live for long and No one from the region wanted to sacrifice their freedom.

Telangana, lacking educated people, will be ruled and looted by Andhra State.

Telangana was never involved in politics before and do not have relations with Congress. This will not let their voices heard was the fear and eventually, it came true (by the formation of AP).

Regards,
Citizen.

1Q: Why Telangana became a backward state (based on situations before independence)?
Note: I will discuss the question twice in this. Once based on the situations just before independence. And second time is based on the situations now!
1 Ans :

If we see the history of the region, one can observe that the region was abundant in resources. Hence the Mughals had an eye on it. Mughals appointed an administrator (Nizam in Urdu) to take care of the region. When Aurangazeb, the last powerful emperor of Mughals died, the dynasty crumbled to ground. At that time, the Nizam declared himself as the ruler of the region. Things would have been better if it stopped there but.. in the next two centuries of Nizams’ rule, the region was looted left, right and center.

The main occupation of India, from the beginning, was agriculture. Telangana was no exception. By saying so, I want to emphasize that the region is not rocks and stones as many people think. Telangana as a region, had many large ponds and lakes, and was well equipped with good water storage systems. Why it turned out to be so, is what needs to be discussed. But later. Coming back to the point of peasants, they were not wealthy by themselves and they had to borrow money from landlords (jagirdars and deshmukhs). There was a Telangana Peasants and Labour Rebellion that had happened during 1946-51, under the leadership of CPI. Most of you might not have known it because Telangana’s history was never taught.

Reasons for the Telangana Rebellion : Feudal landlords (loyal to Nizam) manipulated the debts taken by the peasants and labours.

Now, one can imagine, during the entire regime of Nizam (1719) till the rebellion (1946), how the people were looted.

Secondly, Nizams encouraged the conversion of Hindus into Muslims. Those who didn’t obey will be levied high taxes, stringent rules were to be followed. This brutal rule by Nizams also ruined the economic state of the then resident Telangana people.

After reading this, you might have many questions. I am trying to capture few of them here.

(i) Why didn’t the people revolt against Nizams in the earlier days itself?
Ans : Well, there might be many small revolts here and there, but unity was always a problem. History gives us plenty of examples. For instance, for India to be liberated, Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi had to get everyone on one page – Freedom without violence. There were many minor to major revolts before as well, but the prominent ones are the only ones we talk about. Leaders had to evolve from the common people itself. It took time and CPI came forward and the result is the rebellion!!

Welcome back!

I would first jot down all the burning Questions. Many of the people who are actively taking part in the ‘Separation’ or ‘Unity of AP’ do not have answers for themselves. I would request them to first answer these questions to themselves satisfactorily, and then either support or oppose the ‘Separation’.

1Q : Why Telangana became a backward state (based on situations before independence)?
2Q : Why Telangana was opposed to the merger?
3Q : What are the reasons stated by SRC (States Reorganization Committee) opposing the merger?
4Q : Why was Andhra in favour of the merging?
5Q : Why is Telangana still a backward region (from 1956 till now)?
6Q : Why Andhra doesn’t want the separation?
7Q : Why Telangana is no more interested in Unity?
8Q : Is development of Telangana possible after the Separation?
9Q : Why Students and Government Officials of Telangana region fighting for separation?
10Q : Is this a political game?

Some more questions:

11Q : What should happen to the Seema and Andhra people living in Telangana regions and vice-versa(?)?
12Q : Why is so much hype created for separation?
13Q : Are the people involved in either of the movements (for separation or for unison) know the ground facts?
14Q : Why are everyone behaving like sheep? Why did people stop thinking using their very own brains?

I am adding a new set of questions which, through some retrospection and through media, are the doubts asked by me to myself.

15Q : What are the resources that we are talking about while dividing the state? (Or even at the time of merger)
16Q : Who are Mulkis and What is Mulki’s rule?
17Q : What is Gentlemen’s agreement? (Peddamanushula oppandam)
18Q : What is 5 point formula?
19Q : What is 6 point formula?
20Q : Why Telangana let leader after leader exploit them?
21Q : What happened in 1969?
22Q : What is ‘Jai Andhra’ movement? and what is the outcome of it?
23Q : The burning question, which most people do not know – Potti Sriramulu and his life history specific to Andhra State. Continuing on this, the present situation.
24Q : Is the current approach taken by supporters of Telangana right?
25Q : What is the mistake of the Andhra State residents who live in Telangana region?
26Q : Why are the united Andhra movement leaders so particular not to leave Telangana / Hyderabad as capital?
27Q : Telangana got its independence in 1948. Andhra, as a part of Madras Presidency, got its independence at the same time as India. Did Telangana (State of Hyderabad), as a state, helped the telugu speaking Andhra State in getting divided from Madras? Did Andhra asked for its help? What were the prevailing situations then?

@Readers, if you have some more questions, please feel free to send in comments. I will update the list.

My answers to the above questions will be given in the subsequent articles. If you are not satisfied with any answer or, want to add any more information / comments on a particular answer or, want to correct me somewhere – feel free to drop in a comment

Telangana’s history at a glance:
1719 – Sept 17, 1948 : Ruled by Nizams¹.

1948 – Parts of Telangana divided on mutual consent and few districts (Marathi speaking) were moved into Bombay State and few (Kannada speaking) into Karnataka. The then Hyderabad State was left with 10 districts.

1948 – 25th Jan, 1950 : President’s Rule?? (No citation)

26th Jan, 1950 – 1952 : Vellodi Narayana Menon K², Civil Servant (Keralite). He administrated the state with the help of bureaucrats from Madras State and Bombay State.

1952 – 1956 : Telangana region tasted democracy for the first time² Elections were held and Dr. Burugula Ramakrishna became the first Cheif Minister of Independent(?) Telangana.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–
Andhra’s history at a glance:
1753³ – Aug 15, 1947 : Ruled by French then Britishers. Present Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema became a part of Madras Presidency eventually, under the rule of the foreigners for their business and administrative needs.

Aug 15, 1947 : Got independence.

During the period after Independence, Andhra wanted to separate themselves from Madras State, based on language. The then Andhraites were not preferred over Tamil origin people in jobs. This led to a movement of separation which went rigorously until the first fast by Potti Sriramulu. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru had to stop him by assuring a new state will be formed. However, since the promise was not implemented.

19th Oct, 1952 : Potti SriRamulu again started a second ‘FAST-UNTIL-DEATH’, in Madras, demanding for a separate state for Andhra, with Madras as its capital. He described “Andhra without Madras as a dead body without a head.”

Early 16th December, 1952 : Potti Sriramulu laid down his life for the formation of Andhra.

16th December, 1952 – 18th December, 1952 : Protests were done causing huge damage to Public Property. This hampered the normal life of both Madras and Andhra.

19th December, 1952 : Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru declared a separate state for Andhra.

1st Oct, 1953 : Separate state of Andhra was established with Kurnool as capital.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Dec, 1953² : States Reorganization Commission (SRC) was appointed to prepare the creation of states on linguistic lines.

Keeping in view the then conditions of Telangana (a backward region, high % of Urdu speaking people) and Andhra State, SRC was not in favour of merging the regions into one state. Prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru initially ridiculed the idea of merging Telangana with the Andhra State, fearing a “tint of expansionist imperialism²” in it. Later, he compared the merger to a matrimonial alliance having “provisions for divorce²” if the partners in the alliance cannot get on well.

1st Nov, 1956 : The state of Andhra Pradesh was formed.

That is about the history in terms of years. In the next article, let us know about the culture and the reason of why Telangana didn’t want the merger to happen; and why Andhra insisted on it.

Subject: Dr Deepak Purohit wrote to Presidents about Swine Flu (MUST READ)

My dear Presidents,

I agree with you that swine flu awareness is needed, but there is no need to be panicky and join the publicity propaganda carried out by media and others which acts as a vehicle to spread misconception than to spread scientific information.

These are few facts about swine flu when discussed with the leading epidemiologists.

1) Swine flu, that is H1N1 flu is not new, first detected in 1987
2) Infective stage of flue is 5 days, 1 day before and 4 days after onset of symptoms
3) The best way to prevent it spreading is asking patient having symptoms of flu like fever cough and running nose to take rest at home for 4 days so he does not transmit it
4) Masks are of limited value if any, in this disease, it can spread through droplets on your skin, through contact etc, and I have seen that the masks in Pune are worn as fashion statement, while walking on road today morning I saw people wearing masks coming out for a morning walk with their dogs!, many wearing masks around their necks, and so on, infect these masks shall act as the vehicles to carry the virus, instead, avoiding crowded places or cinema halls or malls where air conditioners are on, is advisable, because you get recalculated air, where the virus density multiplies
5)Death after H1N1 flu is not common, infect infections like measles is taking toll of thousands more every year, and we are oblivious of the facts. Swine flu is being blown out of proportion by media trying to create hysteria among lay people.
6) Fever accompanied by respiratory distress, should be immediately notified which is likely to be a complication of H1N1 flu
7)The mortality is less than .01 percent of those affected, that means may be one in 10,000 affected is likely to suffer the life loss.
If you remember, 2 years ago SARS was blown out of proportion, what happened? Humans develop immunity to the virus, the same is going to happen, we develop immunity in due course of time, the virus is in the air, you can not stop it, our body is already developing the immunity so nothing to panic.
We need to take care of children and elderly who have less immunity and do not let them go to crowded places that are all.

WE MUST START THIS CAMPAIGN OF NOT TO BE AFRAID OF THIS FLU AND LET YOUR DAILY WORK CONTINUE AS NORMAL, NO MASKS FOR ORDINARY CITIZENS, HEALTH CARE WORKERS OR SPECIFIC EXPOSED TO LOT OF CROWDED ENVIRONMENTS MAY BE BENEFITTED, NOT PROVEN.

I am amazed to hear that people are selling masks of RS 20 each which are available to less than Rupee 1 in the market. See who is getting benefitted?

Please spread the scientific info, do not join the band wagon and stick to science, that should be the order of the day.

Deepak Purohit
District governor
